Evaluation of the performance of Bollywood dance                    The evaluation of my performance of Bollywood, reflecting   on both my weaknesses and strengths .  Strengths  The first skill that I feel majorly improved during my rehearsals for Bollywood was my musicality.I feel that this skill has certainly improved from previous shows due to this time doing more research and learning more about the dance style and culture behind it. I really wanted to engage the audience by fully showing the characteristics of Bollywood I believe this was evident throughout the final  performance of Bollywood video as you can see I was always  fully engaged in this character from my  facial expression to my body language and movements. my musicality has always been something that I have struggled with in previous shows as I’ve always felt that I’m not perfectly in time with the music and I struggled to link the timing and sound however now after practising over and over I am able to here i

From gaining a broader understanding of the style I was able to give an accurate interpretation of the choreography as well as using my characterization and facial expression in order to make the performance as effective as possible. When performing we were able to wear some pretty Bollywood consumes that were deigned the exact way that professional Bollywood dancers would wear them, they were decorated with sequins, Jewels and bright color's, this really helped me as it allowed  me to fe

For a while I was really struggling to believe in myself as I felt that everyone was so much better than me and I was always the one struggling , I was worried that I would not be able to succeed in doing simple and get the grades that I wanted.  Over my year and a half at Suffolk One, I have been determined to work in my balance by doing exercises within college and my own time that specifically help with balance, in lesson I worked on my core strength (the Martha Graham technique help me with this a lot) and focus to really help myself improve on my balance.                                      Skills audit Whilst being apart of the CTEC performing arts class at Suffolk One, we have been able to study and explore an array of contrasting dance styles and different units, So far we have been graded on contemporary, jazz and kathak dance styles. We have also done loads of workshops based of different choreographers like Martha Graham’s and pins Bausch. This allowed me to gain an understanding of what dance styles I excel in and what dance styles I would personally like to improve on, for me person I feel that contemporary dance is the style I’ve most enjoyed and felt I did the best in. This is one reason I have chosen contemporary dance as my chosen style to show my improvement. Whilst growing up  , I attended lyrical/ballet classes and a theatre group called theatre train , being able to be apart of these groups was an amazing opportunity as it helped to widening my performance skills and develop my skills even further and gain that confiden

Stylistic features of contemporary Contemporary dance background and where it originated- Contemporary dance  began at the start of the 20th century when US dancer Isadora Duncan (1878–1927) broke away from ballet and developed her own, more natural style . Contemporary dance has many different styles, some of them closely linked to music, such as jazz, rock and roll, and hip- hop. Around  the 1980s, the term "contemporary dance" was created by a wave of new dancers who did not want to adhere to rigid classical ballet and lyrical dance forms, but instead sought to explore the realm of revolutionary unusual movements drawn from all dance traditions around the world. Contemporary dances, as a result, do not use fixed moves, but rather attempt to develop completely new forms and dynamics, such as quick oppositional moves, shifting alignments, expressions of raw emotions, systematic breathing, dancing moves performed in non-standing positions (for example, lying on the floor), an

rehearsals  of Bollywood dance   Rehearsal one - Wednesday 4th January 2023 In rehearsal today we had to get into small groups and create still images in the style of Bollywood dance. Before the lesson I had done some research on Bollywood dance and had a little look at what all of the mudras symbolised and how they were supposed to be performed accurately. Throughout the lesson We had to consider our positioning, precision, control, balance, awareness of dynamics and awareness of space when creating these images in our groups, We then had to create transitions from one to another. This is something me and my group struggled with as our transitions weren’t as creative and in sync as we had liked them to have been. I need to make sure that throughout this dance, I am keeping my energy up and really communicating the fun Bollywood style. Here are some examples of the positions my group and I created. My goal for next week is to improve on my focus when in rehearsals this means not lettin
